Very Presidential

Very Presidential, originally uploaded by NorthIsUp.

The tallest mountain in New Hampshire's Presidential Range, Mount Washington reaches 6,288 ft (1,917 m). It is known for some of the worst weather on earth and holds the record for the highest wind speed ever recorded: 231 mph (372 km/h). Although there is an auto road to the top, in the winter the summit observatory is only accessible via snowcat (1-5 hours, depending upon snow drifts). There are very few days of the year when there is a clear view from the top - this would have been one of them.
